Hi folks,
This is a quick heads up for my retirement shindig which is on the above date at the York Railway Institute Rugby Club, New lane, Acomb, York.
Don't worry I don’t expect you all to come but I just wanted to send out a text to the people I remember working with over the years to say thanks... There has been a lot of vodka under the bridge so if I have missed a few off please don't take offence you are cordially welcome to attend anyway, even if it is just to make sure I actually go.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to all those who have put up with me, helped me, bought me drinks or sat next to me just to make yourselves look good. It has been a pleasure and who knows you may get a mention in my forthcoming memoirs. (which would be a better read if I could remember half of the stuff we have done).
People keep telling me that there has never been a better time to go. . So I will not disappoint you by dragging my heels. I have seen the good times and so, as promised I will not to let the door bang me on the bum on the way out. I don't actually retire until the 13th March and common wisdom was to have the party post retirement !
The start time for the hardcore is 5pm which coincides with the start of the England v Ireland rugby match. For everyone else it is 7pm. The boy Wilks has sorted me out a legal bar until 2am so I hope to pace myself better than my 40th when I had to be carried about by 10pm. There is also a karaoke for those that think they should be on x factor.
Food (for those that only go to partys for fodder) is a hog roast so if you are intending to pitch up, can you confirm with MICK WILKINSON in licensing at York by e mail so that we can either order a piglet or a party size porker.
I also need to know numbers so I know which room (or telephone box) to book at the club.
