JBB Vacancies

There are a number of vacancies on the JBB due to promotions, retirements etc. We have vacancies at all 3 ranks for the reserve seat position, for inspectors in the Central area, and for sergeants on CID, RPG and the Eastern area. If you are interested please contact the Federation office.

Please note to ensure the JBB fits the new look of the force we are ourselves restructuring from our current arrangements in a manner as set out below:

1. From June 2010 we will move from having 10 representatives per rank based on 2 per area, plus reserve seat, plus CID, plus traffic, plus HQ to a model where we have 9 representatives per rank which are based on the directorate model as follows Safer Neighbourhoods Directorate = 6 reps per rank; Specialist Operations Directorate = 2 reps per rank; Crime Directorate = 1 rep per rank;

2. We will hold elections for JBB chairman, secretary and deputy secretary / treasurer on 17th June 2010 (the day of the Open Meeting);

3. The last meeting of the current JBB will be on 17th June 2010;

4. We will invite nominations for positions for non full time representatives to the JBB week commencing 28th June and concluding on 9th July 2010;

5. We will hold any elections resulting from this during the period 19th - 30th July 2010;

6. The first meeting of the new JBB will be on 14th September 2010.

Mid service courses

We are delighted to announce that we are holding some mid-service courses at the Federation office. The courses are being run from 10am x 2pm and are for officers with 15-24 years service. Please note attendance is in your own time.

Pre-Retirement Courses

On behalf of the force the federation organises and runs four Pre-retirement courses each year. These are usually arranged in spring and autumn. The courses are of 1 day duration and officers with a minimum of 25 years service may attend one course in duty time.

The courses cover a range of subject including pension advice, investment advice and DWP advice with a range of speakers. To request to attend a course please send us an email via the contact us page and ensure you copy in your local supervision.

Harmans will be running mortgage surgeries for serving and retired officers and special constables and police staff at our offices on the following dates: TBC Appointments are for 60 minutes. In light of the changes in the economy Larry Bignall of Hanson Wealth Management will be running Financial Planning Surgeries - for serving AND retired federated ranks at our offices. Linder Myers Solicitors will be holding Matrimonial Surgeries between 10am and 4pm at the Federation office on the following date: 25th Jan 2010; 23rd Feb 2010; 22nd Mar 2010. GORVINS Solicitors will be providing Matrimonial Surgeries at our offices from 10am x 4pm on the following dates in 2010: 10th February; 10th March; 14th April; 12th May; 15th June; 14th July; 11th August; 15th September; 13th October; 10th November; 8th December. SPP

You will have seen the message of the day (9th December 2009) around SPP. The attached document explains our position. We give a commitment to you that in order to avoid the same issues arising next year in the 2010 deliberations we will take an active role, although we will take no part in the decision making process.
